By Richard Sellers
With their invasion fleet destroyed, the Cyber-men switch to plan b and prepare to launch a gigantic bomb homed in on a radio signal coming from an old IE building. Vaughn goes a little ape shit and uses Watkins’ machine on his Cyber-communication device and decides to help The Doctor take down the Cyber-men. Vaughn tells The Doctor about the old IE building, who then tells Lethbridge-Stewart and they launch a two pronged assault.
The Doctor and Vaughn get to the Cyber-men’s base first and take down a few of them before Vaughn is shot and killed. I guess that takes care of having to prosecute him for trying to take over the world. Lethbridge-Stewart shows up with the cavalry and reuses The Doctor and together they blow up the radio array.
This only causes the Cyber-men to switch to yet another plan and simply move their mother ship close enough to Earth to shoot the bomb at point blank range. Thankfully the Russians and the RAF have a few missiles left and although there were a few tense minutes of waiting to see if the rockets did their job it all ends with the Cyber-men in flames.
This was a decently solid ending to all together good arch. I don’t think I’ve seen one the good in a very very long time.
